Full Description

Reputed to be the grave of William Alecock from Market Weston who committed suicide in C18 and according to tradition was buried at the crossroads of Bury Lane and Wyken Road (parish boundary with Bardwell). On the NE corner of Bury Lane there is a cemented stone 4 1/2 feet x 3 1/2 feet raised slightly above ground level which is thought to mark the grave (S1). Basil Brown says original name was Apes Cross (S2).
