Full Description

Various stretches of barbed wire beach defence can be seen running along the beach to the east of Southwold on 1941 aerial photographs (S1). Many of these strips of barbed wire still appear to be 'in situ' on photographs from 1943 (S2). These features would have been a component in the coastal defences which ran along most of the East Anglian coast during World War II.
