GV II
Farmhouse. Late C16 core, facade probably early C19; considerably modernised mid C20. Timber framed, facade of flint with red brick headers and red brick dressings, brick casing to gable ends and rear with weatherboarding above the eaves; plaintiled roof with new tiles to the rear. 2 storeys and attic. 4 windows to ground floor, 2 to first floor, 2-light and 3-light casements, segmental arches; brick dentil eaves cornice; modern doorway to rear. Good internal stack with a row of 3 coupled octagonal flues (now reduced in height) with moulded bases; at the corners of the stack are projecting bricks shaped as horses heads, a good example of this feature of Tudor chimneys which was supposed to protect the house from evil spirits. Interior with exposed timberwork and a beam with embattled carving over one ground floor fireplace.
