Description

TM 26 NE DENNINGTON TANNINGTON ROAD 3/52 Dennington Place 25.10.51. GV II House. Largely C17, one cross-wall probably medieval. 3 cell plan with later extension to north forming a single long range; a cross wing to the south was demolished c.1/950. Timber framed, with exposed timbering and brick nogging, mainly in herringbone pattern; plaintiled roof. 2 storeys and attic. Some original windows with square mullions, other mid C20 windows in matching style; cross passage entry with original 4-centre arched doorway and later 6- panel fielded door; boarded door to right hand side. One gabled dormer. Internal stack and gable end stack to left hand side. Interior with exposed timbering; original first floor brick newel stairs with wooden treads, some original doors, 2 original arched doorheads. A considerable amount of the timber framing has been re-used, probably from the main house on the adjacent moated site which was demolished in the later C17. Listing NGR: TM2628066717
