Archaeology Outreach Service
Tailored archaeology education sessions delivered by an experienced Outreach Officer, who can bring hands-on archaeology activities to school classroom or to local groups. This is an interactive and an exciting way to explore archaeology and local history with hands-on learning in archaeology for all periods of history including Stone Age, Romans, Anglo-Saxon, medieval and post-medieval (including Tudor and Victorian), using real artefacts excavated from Suffolk.
Anglo-Saxon Rendlesham
A range of resources, including two ready-to-go KS2 downloadable PowerPoints for teachers, an animated video and a virtual 360 interactive exhibition. These give an introduction to archaeology techniques focusing on the excavations and surveys that have been used by archaeologists to investigate Rendlesham - an Anglo-Saxon royal settlement which was once a residence of the early East Anglian Kings. The resources build a solid foundation of archaeological techniques and how they have been used to discover what life might have been like for the people living at Rendlesham between the 5th and 8th centuries. (Funded by The National Lottery Heritage Fund).
