Description

TM 36 SE BENHALL MITFORD ROAD (west side) 2/29 Walnut Tree Farmhouse 25.10.51 - II Farmhouse. C17 with later additions (date 1871 at rear). L shape plan. Timber framed and plastered with some brick casing to north wing; brick extensions to rear; plaintile roof. Main range 2 storeys and attic; 4 window range, 3-light casements without glazing bars; asymmetrical doorway with 8-panel fielded door (the upper 2 panels glazed), Roman Doric pilasters, entablature with triglyphs, pediment. To west is a brewhouse extension, single storey and attic with one gabled dormer. Interior with panelling to hall and parlour and the 2 first floor rooms immediately above; the parlour has a painted overmantel in an eared frame, said to be a contemporary copy of a Gainsborough original in Little Glemham Hall.
