Formerly one house, now divided into 2. C16 with various later alterations and extensions, notably a C17 bay to the south. Timber framed and plastered, roof of modern concrete pantiles. 2 storeys and attic. Various casement windows. South gable of main range has a fine C17 2 storey canted bay of rendered brick; each floor has 4 inset columns at the angles of the bay, with entablatures over and a brick dentil cornice to the first floor; square attached columns to the flanks of the bay; the original ovolo-moulded mullion and transom side lights remain (blocked), but the central windows have been replaced by tripartite sashes. In the gable end above is the bust of Arthur Pennyng, High Sheriff of Suffolk and owner of the house in the late C16. South east of main range has a fine external stack with 3 detached octagonal flues with moulded bases and linked star caps. Timber framed wing to west, probably C17, with 6-panel door and C19 gabled open porch. Interior considerably modernised, the main beams cased in plaster in C17; there is some C17 ornamental plasterwork with running vine motif on the first floor; attic fireplace with 4-centre brick arch.
