Description

TM 37 SE SIBTON NEW ROAD 2/103 Hill House - II Farmhouse. Mainly C16-C17, in 2 or 3 phases. Timber framed and plastered, pantiled roof. 2 storeys and attics. A main range with flanking cross wings. Various late C17-C19 casement windows, including some good earlier examples with square leaded panes; the south wing has a lobby entrance with a 6-panel raised and fielded door (in 2 hinged hal ves) and a heavy stack with moulded brickwork to the base. To the rear of the south wing is a one-bay addition in colourwashed brick. To the rear of the main range is a small timber framed gabled addition with an early plank door and a first floor pointed-arch window with Y tracery. The north (service wing has a good C17 newel staircase in what appears to be a later addition at the gable end. Moated site. Listing NGR: TM3717970718
