Description

TM 26 SE FRAMLINGHAM 2/2 Barn at Parham House - II Barn. Early C17. Timber-framed and weatherboarded with corrugated iron roof. Full height studs; straight tie-beams; long arched braces, all but one removed and replaced by bolted knees. Roof, in 14 short bays, with one row of unstepped butt purlins and one row of clasped; diminished principals. The 2 centre bays have 2 windbraces to each bay, but each of the remaining bays has a single windbrace pointing inwards. Later floors have been introduced throughout the interior. A porch projecting on the south side is of slightly later date: frame with middle rail, roof with clasped side purlins, principals not diminished. The parish boundary between Framlingham and Parham passes between the farmhouse and the farm buildings. The house is listed under Parham. Listing NGR: TM2981261894
