Description

TM 15 SE WITNESHAM DEBENHAM ROAD 1/43 Berghersh House - II House. 1810, enlarged 1819 (P+M 1819 on tablet at rear); for Philip Meadows. 2 storey centre block 3 windows wide, with flanking 3 storey blocks, set- forward, 1 window wide. Gault brick with limestone bands at 1st and 2nd floors of wings, and moulded cornice at eaves. Walling of red brick at rear. Hipped slated roofs with internal chimneys of gault brick. Sash windows with flat arches of gauged brick; small pane sashes. In the left-hand wing are 2 dummy sash windows complete with wooden frame and glazing bars. Pair of 4- panelled entrance doors with oblong fanlight. The garden elevation, 3 windows wide is stuccoed; an early C19 print shows a 1-storey porch with flat entablature, and a flanking verandah.
