Description

BARSHAM TM 39 SE 1/2 Barn 20m south east of - Remains of Barsham Hall GV II Barn. Late C16. Timber framed and weatherboarded, with parapet gable ends of random flint and red brick surmounted by square pinnacles. Pantiled roof. 6 bays, the 2 eastern bays partitioned off as stables, with a later intermediate floor. The intact frame has heavy full-height studs without wall bracing; it would seem the original cart entrance was in the westernmost bay. The roof has butt purlins together with clasped purlins against diminished principal rafters; one-way plank windbracing except in the western bay where it is 2-way. Listing NGR: TM3957690326
