METTINGHAM LOW ROAD TM 39 SE 1/22 Alder Farmhouse - II Farmhouse. Late C16/early C17. Timber framed and plastered with a pantiled roof. 2 storeys and attic. 3-cell form. Casement windows, mainly of C19 date; lobby entry with mid C20 door. Internal stack, heightened in mid C20. Set forward to the left is a colourwashed brick lean-to, once the dairy. At the apex of the right gable is a Sun Insurance Co. firemark. Inside much of the floor structure is exposed but very little of the frame. There is a first floor 4-centre arched brick fireplace.
