Description

WILLINGHAM TM 48 NE 6/55 Willingham Hall 1-9-53 GV II Farmhouse. Late C16/early C17, probably in 2 phases, with later service wing to rear. Timber framed with modern render. Front slope of roof slated, with courses of fishscale slates of 2 patterns; rear roof slope pantiled. 2 storeys and attic. 3 cell form. Mid C20 casement windows. C19 entrance porch with pierced scalloped bargeboards, a 4-panel door and elliptical fanlight; Y-traceried windows to the sides. Internal stack comprising 4 flues combined in sawtooth fashion, the upper section rebuilt; at the base of the flues are remains of projecting bricks in the form of horses' heads. The hall and the chamber above have ovolo-moulded bridging beams and a similarly- moulded cornice at each end of the room; the chamber over the service end has an ovolo-moulded cross-beamed ceiling. Some studding is exposed at the service end, which seems to be a slightly later addition. Listing NGR: TM4514886072
