Description

TM 48 SE WRENTHAM CHURCH STREET 1/62 Rectory 27/11/54 GV II Rectory. Mid C18 with later alterations; very extensive rear additions of 1842 together with some earlier work were demolished when the house was modernised in 1953. Colourwashed brick, hipped roof of glazed black pantiles. 2 storeys and attic. 6-bay facade with brick pilasters to left and between bays 5 and 6. Sash windows with glazing bars in flush frames, slightly cambered brick arches; the first floor windows have large panes of later date. Good 2-storey Gothick porch of c.1840: brick, with a crenellated parapet; panelled wooden doorway surround, 2-centre entrance arch with modern door and glazed tympanum. 3-light first floor window with small panes and cusped ogee heads to the lights. Within the porch is a doorway with inset 6-panel entrance door (the upper 2 panels glazed), semi-circular fanlight with glazing bars, panelled reveals and early C19 Roman Doric pilasters. At the right hand gable end the first floor overhangs and is supported on 3 iron columns. C18 staircase with turned balusters. Listing NGR: TM4885683016
