TM 03 NE LITTLE WENHAM CHURCH LANE (EAST SIDE) 3/78 Little Wenham Hall 22.2.55 Farmhouse sometime known as Little Wenham Hall GV II House. C16 with C18 north double range extension, C19/C20 porch, west gabled range and other alterations and additions. Timber framed and plastered. Red plain tiled roofs, hipped to C18 double range, hipped to right (north) of main range, gabled to C19 two storey porch. The rear (west) face with C19/C20 batten decoration, excepting C18 range which is plastered, has 2 gabled wings facing west towards the moat, the southern wing C19, the northern wing probably original. Red brick chimney stacks off centre right of main range, to ridge of C19 west range and south of C18 range. 2 storeys. 2 first floor right and 5 ground floor windows mainly C19/C20 vertically sliding sashes with horns. West face various C20 small paned vari-light casements. The C19 east porch with 3-light first floor window, 4-centred outer arch, mullions to returns. C19 reproduction door. Internally most of the frame is concealed. The large chimney stack with later fire surrounds. The rooms adjacent to the chimney stack with heavy chamfered bridging joists. Top plates are traceable under the decorations including those to the small west wing which was possibly a stair turret or porch. Jowled storey posts. The bays of the roof to south of the chimney stack of C16 arch braced side purlin construction, pegged at ridge, intermittent collars. No inspection of northern bays at time of re-survey or of C18 range, but there is a C18 cast iron hobgrate to bedroom fireplace in this range and the northern entrance door is nailed, of 4 vertical boards.
