Description

Saxstead Green Windmill. A post mill, with fan-tail, running on wooden rail. Brick round house constructed around the supporting posts in 1800. Raised on the round-house in 1840 to give greater length to the sails. Deed of Guardianship 18 July 1951 (S1). 1986: Mill as described above. (see 'Not to be published on web' tab for finder/s and/or findspot/s) says that it is in working order. Although only the mill itself is scheduled and in guardianship, it forms part of an apparently intact and contemporary complex of mill house, barns and other buildings.
