Description

Bures St Mary 1. 5377 Gazeley Gate TL 93 NW 11/76 II 2. A timber-framed and plastered house with mainly C18 and C19 external features. Renovated in the C20. At the west end there is an older part of 1 storey and attics possibly of C16-C17 origin. It is said to have been the ford keepers house until Cromwellian times. A later block was added at the east end in the C18 or early C19 when it became a farmhouse. 2 storeys. 3 window range on the south front and 1 window range on the east. Various windows, mostly leaded casements, some with "Gothic" arched heads. Roof tiled, the west end has 2 gabled dormers and the east block has a large central chimney stack.
