BULL LANE 1. 5377 Long Melford Bull Lane Farmhouse TL 84 NE 6/405 10.1.53. II GV 2. A C16-C17 timber-framed and plastered house with cross wings at the east and west ends. The south front was entirely refronted in the C18 when the centre part was built out and heightened. 2 storeys. 4 window range, double hung sashes with glazing bars. There is a central 6-panel door with architrave and a Tuscan porch with plain columns and a modillion cornice. The east and west cross wings project at the rear and the east wing has exposed timber-framing. At the north end there is a 2 storeyed square bay with mullioned windows (mostly blocked) with some lattice leaded lights on the ground storey. The gable is carried out over the bay supported on a cambered bressummer with fine carved ornamentation and with arched braces at the outer ends, with pendants. An additional later wing extends to the west of the west cross wing. Roofs tiled, with paired modillion eaves cornice on the south front and a good chimney stack with 4 grouped octagonal shafts on a square base to the east cross wing. Listing NGR: TL8731045857
