Description

MONKS ELEIGH THE STREET 1. 5377 (south side) The Old Guildhall (formerly listed as Meadow Bank) TL 9647 54/809 23.1.58. II GV 2. A C15 timber-framed and plastered building with a 2-storeyed cross wing with a jettied upper sturdy at the east end. Roof tiled. The building is said to have been originally the Guildhall. The main block is now used as a workshop. A range of outbuildings extend to the west with a gabled wing at the west end. Casement windows. The ground storey under the jettied cross wing has a splayed bay. (C18). There is a 6-panel door with a decorated frieze. There are good interior features including a crown post roof.
