Description

TM 14 SW COPDOCK POUND LANE 2/27 22.2.55 Barn at Copdock Hall (formerly listed as Barn 50 yards East of Copdock II Hall) Barn. Late C16 and C17. Red brick in English bond, with diaper patterning, slate roof. 10 bays with original midstrey to east and C17 midstrey to west. Plain brick plinth. East: 3 tiers of alternating ventilation slits, those to right covered. Stable door to left midstrey. South gable with crowstepped parapet. 5 ventilation slits, the lower 2 glazed, recessed owl hole. Similar north gable. West face largely obscured by later additions but upper tier of ventilation slits visible, the remainder are intact. Opening opposite rear midstrey, the jambs with chamfered arrises. Added midstrey to south, of mixed bonds. Interior divided by later stud partition. Roof of 2 tiers butt purlins and one tier of collars, windbraces to the upper tier of purlins. The tie beams do not correspond with the principal rafters. Copdock Hall not listed.
