Description

BRENT ELEIGH THE STREET 1. 5377 Colman's Cottages (Nos 1 to 6 consec) [formerly listed as Almshouses] TL 9447 53/182 23.1 .58 II GV 2. A range of 6 almshouses. C18 red brick with a moulded brick eaves cornice and a central pediment with a carved tablet in the tympanum inscribed "These almshouses were built and endowed by Mr Edward Colman youngest son of Robert Colman of this Parish, gent. Anno Domini 1731". Roofs tiled. Two storeys. Four:four:four window range of casements with segmental arched heads and leaded lights. The window ranges are divided by pairs of blocked window openingsat the north-west and south-east ends. The doorways have tiled hoods with wood cornices. The front of the almshouses is protected by a low brick wall with bull nose coping. Listing NGR: TL9428147799
