TM 03 NE LITTLE WENHAM CHURCH LANE (EAST SIDE) 3/81 Farmbuildings complex to west of barn and buildings listed 3/80 Little Wenham Castle GV II The description should be amended to read:- Stable and loft and attached stable range. C17 and C18 of earlier origin. Timber framed and weatherboarded, red brick plinths red plain tiled roofs. Two storey stable and loft to south, gabled to north and south with clock to south gable. External steps to east (farmyard) face loft door. The long single storey central stable range has 3 stable doors facing the farmyard. The northern range is gabled to the farmyard with the roof hipped at the road angle. Return wall of red brick. Stable to farmyard. Interior: 2 storey stable at south end has chamfered lateral and axial beams with convex step stops and broad unchamfered joists, plastered walls and later wooden mangers on rear wall. Roof appears to have large collars with curved braces, large common rafters and possibly wind braces. Single storey north range has clasped purlin roof with reused collars and tie- beams and wooden trough on rear wall.
