Description

HIGHAM HIGHAM ROAD TM 03 NW (south side, off) 3/4 Higham Hall 26.1.67 GV II House. Early C19 with C17 or earlier rear range, altered C19. Front range white brick, partly pebbledashed at rear. Rear range red brick in English bond, inner face pebbledashed, outer wall rendered. Slate roof. Front range 2 storeys and attic, 5 bays with slightly lower rear range to right forming L-plan. Front range: entrance and window bays set in 2-storey arcade with impost bands to segment arches of gauged brick. Central Doric porch. Sashes with glazing bars in reveals with sills under cambered gauged brick arches. Pediment to centre 3 bays, 6-pane sash to attic. Overhanging hipped roof, wooden bracketed eaves. Pair of dormers with sashes. Corniced stacks. Earlier range, plinth to rear wall. 2-storey probable early C19 pilastered bow with 16-pane sashes. Overhanging hipped roof. Interior of early range shows no pre-C19 features. Occupies site adjacent to church of St Mary (qv) at a distance from the village centre. Listing NGR: TM0359735237
