Description

OCCOLD EYE ROAD, CASTLE HILL TM 17 SE 1/40 Occold Hall - II Farmhouse. Front block said to be dated 1845; older work to rear. Front block of white brick with hipped slated roof. 2 storeys. Symmetrical facade of 3 wide bays; flanking pilaster strips, centre bay set slightly forward. Side bays have inset sash windows under flat brick arches, 6-paned (with margin glazing bars) to ground floor, 12-paned to first floor. Centre bay has 2 narrow single-paned sash windows with semi-circular arched heads. Doorway set within arched recess: 4-panel door, plain semi-circular fanlight. Various stacks with white brick shafts. Rear is timber framed and plastered; roofs plaintiled and glazed black pantiled. In 2 main ranges with a further one- storey addition to the rear. Interior not examined. The previous Occold Hall, which was the manor house, stood near the church and disappeared c.1800. Listing NGR: TM1501170626
