Description

EARL STONHAM NORWICH ROAD TM 15 NW 5/118 Deerbolts Hall 9-12-55 - II Former manor house. Early C18 with early C19 remodelling. Red brick with burnt headers; a band at 1st and 2nd floors. 3:3:3, the central bays having four flat stuccoed pilasters supporting a large cornice and pediment with stuccoed tympanum (all early C19 remodelling). Early C19 hipped slated roof; deep eaves with paired modillions. Axial chimneys of red brick. 3 storeys. C18 windows with flat arches of gauged brick; mainly early C19 small-pane sashes (the 3 centre bays have pairs of C19 French windows; and another pair is at centre of 1st storey, with balcony). C19 entrance door in one of the two rear flat-roofed and parapetted extensions; the parapets have open balustrading with turned balusters and urn finials. 6-panelled door with oblong fanlight and flat-roofed canopy on console brackets and iron columns. Attached to the east (garden), front is a full-width early C19 terrace with open balustrading; leading down from the terrace is a flight of 5 limestone steps. Seat of the Driver and Grey families.
