TM 07 NE WORTHAM RECTORY ROAD (SOUTH EAST SIDE) 1/179 Beech Tree Farm Cottage 29.7.55 (formerly listed as Beech Farmhouse ) -- II Wrongly shown on OS map as Ling Farm. House. Mid C17, extended and altered C19. Timber frame with clay lump and brick additions, plastered. Steeply pitched plaintiled and pantiled roofs. 2 cell lobby entrance plan with service additions to form an L. 2 storeys and attic. Central entrance in a C19 gabled porch, 6 panelled door with a rectangular fanlight, surround with bracketed hood. 3-light part opening glazing bar casements, first floor left is blind. Boxed eaves. Central axial ridge stack with recessed panels in base, moulded to 4 conjoined hexagonal shafts with rebuilt oversailing caps. Gable end pentice boards, exposed plates and double purlins. To rear centre is an original short gabled wing, slightly lower with a first floor 3-light casement, an early stack adjoining C19 service addition to right, a small lean-to outshut to left. Lower 2 storey 2 cell C19 wing to rear left is brick faced with an entrance, casements with segmental heads on ground floor, C20 addition to rear. Interior: concealed framing, all rooms have ogee and bar stop chamfered binding beams, axial on ground floor, cross axial on first floor, runout chamfered joists, stairs behind stack.
