Description

FRESSINGFIELD LITTLE WHITTINGHAM GREEN TM 27 NE 6/37 Gissings Farmhouse 29.7.55 -- II Farmhouse. Late C16/early C17, probably in 2 phases, forming a single long range. C19 alterations. Timber framed, with a C19 white brick facade with 3 pilaster strips; whitewashed brick to right gable end, the remainder plastered. Roof of mid C20 plaintiles. 2 storeys and attic. 4 windows, mullion and transom casements, probably of C19 date; flat brick arches. Lobby entrance with C19 6-panel raised and fielded door, the upper 2 panels glazed. One small segmental-headed dormer. A heavy internal stack over the doorway and a small stack between the hall and service rooms. At the rear there are 2 incomplete original windows with ovolo-moulded frames, one with the remains of mullions; another window, which seems to be secondary, has chamfered mullions. Inside the house most of the timbers are concealed. An original ovolo-moulded external doorway survives in the rear wall. Listing NGR: TM2903977242
