Description

REDGRAVE THE STREET (NORTH EAST TM 0477 SIDE) 5/96 Chapel House -- II House, latterly 2 dwellings. Late C16, altered C19. Timber frame, plastered. Thatched roof. 3 cell cross entry plan. 1 storey and attic. In original cross entry and later lobby entry positions are C19 vertically panelled architraved doors with hoodboards and hoodmoulds. 3-light part opening metal frame glazing bar casements with hoodboards and hoodmoulds. 2 raking pantiled C17 dormers to hall and parlour chambers with lattice leaded 3-light part opening metal frame casements. Ridge stack to right of centre between hall and parlour, cap rebuilt. Left end C20 lean-to outshut, a single early lattice leaded attic light with hoodboard, exposed plates and purlins. Right end exposed plates and purlins, bargeboards. To rear a cross entry door as to front, a small clay lump and pantiled lean-to outshut behind hall, C17 external kitchen stack with single offsets, tapering to narrow cap. Interior: stop chamfered axial binding beams and mid-rails, straight and reverse cranked arched braces in walling, arched braces to tie beams largely removed. In hall chamber are opposed jointed cruck blades continuing from posts up to collar. Listing NGR: TM0453577966
