COMBS BILDESTON ROAD TM 05 NW 2/62 America Farmhouse - II Farmhouse, early C17 with crossing to right of c.1800. 2 storeys. 3-cell cross-passage entrance plan. Timber-framed and plastered. Plaintiled roofs; a C17 axial chimney of buff brick, the upper part rebuilt in C20 red brick. C19 casements at 1st storey, C20 small-pane casements at ground storey. Mid C19 glazed panelled entrance door with C20 gabled plaintiled porch. Unmoulded exposed C17 framing. The original cross-passage was moved to right in c.1800, thereby enlarging the hall and incorporating the former service cell. Unchamfered floor joists laid flat. Back-to-back lintelled open fireplaces to hall and parlour (the lintel in the hall is reused from a timber-framed chimney; and a binding beam with jewelled chamfer stop, and other timbers, are also reused from a C16 house).
