Core perhaps of late C15, with C16 and late C17 in-line additions. Timber-framed and plastered. Thatched roof, hipped to left, half-hipped to right. 2 storeys. Standard hardwood casement windows of 1985 with imitation diamond-leaded glazing. Central mid C20 plank door. Internal stack has rendered shaft. INTERIOR: Core comprises hall and service cell: full-height studding, wall plates with splayed, edge-halved scarf joints, about 0.4m long. A flat tie beam is independent of any bay division. Some irregular heavy joists in service end, others C19 replacements. Inserted floor in hall has plain joists set flat, supported at one end by a ledge against the stack. Good open fireplace with original lintol, the large bricks probably C18. C16 2-bay parlour addition to right, one bay containing the stack. Good, intact studding on both floors, closely-spaced chamfered joists in parlour. In rear wall, close to gable end, a blocked doorway with shallow- arched head, an unusual position for an original doorway. Close by is a blocked mullioned window. Open parlour fireplace, also of large brick. 2-bay addition to left probably late C17: regular first-floor studding, the ground-floor timbers concealed. Listing NGR: TM0971666119.
