Description

WORLINGWORTH NEWTOWN TM 26 NW 5/121 Home Farmhouse - II Former farmhouse. Early C16. Timber framed and plastered under a half-hipped pantiled roof. 2 storeys. 3-cell form. Mid C20 casement windows. Lobby entry: C19 6-panel door, the upper 2 panels glazed. Internal stack. A later stack at the service end has a square shaft. Single-storey lean-to against right gable end. The frame has widely-spaced studding, exposed on the upper floor. Plain ground floor joists, with original trimming for ladder stairs at the service and parlour ends. All the floors appear to be integral with the rest of the structure. Cambered tie beam over hall, with one of a pair of short heavy arched braces to the wallposts. Evidence for 2 original 3-light first floor windows at the service end, with large chamfered and diamond mullions. The stack is a later insertion, preceded by a stud and plaster flue in the same position. Newel stair by stack. Roof not examined. Listing NGR: TM2163268892
