Description

TM 04 SE HINTLESHAM DUKE STREET 3/18 Manor Farmhouse - II House. Early to mid C16, mid C19. Timber-framed, red brick, plain tile roofs. Complex plan. 2 bay cross wing extended by a third bay to rear in C19. C19 brick range to right incorporating earlier build, C19 service wing to left. Right hand wing. 1½ storeys, red brick, with early brick in rear plinth and in part of right hand gable. Two 2-light casements with diamond leaded panes, beneath similar hood- mould. 3 similar diamond paned half-dormer casements, with gables laid in pattern of red and blue brickwork. Right hand return, C19 shaped gable with 4 ball finials. External offset stack, square with 2 diagonal shafts with oversailing caps. Similar axial stack. Gabled cross wing, timber framed but the ground floor encased in brick, the upper floor with some applied timber. Moulded bressummer. 3-light leaded case- ment to each floor. Single storey left hand wing has similar shaped gable with 4 ball finials. Boarded half-door. 3-light leaded casement beneath segmental head. Interior: crown post roof with long braces to cross wing, said to retain original rafters. Blocked ground floor window. C19 wing has applied timbers, masquerading as a frame. Reused tie beams in left hand wing. Listing NGR: TM0780342350
