BARHAM BARHAM GREEN TM 15 SW Chestnut Farmhouse 3/4 9.12.55 II G.V. Farmhouse, late C16. 3-cell plan; the parlour cell to left is of cross-wing form. 2 storeys, with attics in the cross-wing. Timber-framed and plastered. plaintiled roofs. A good original axial chimney of red brick, the 4 octagonal flues have moulded bases and a square plinth. Mainly C20 casements, some with leaded lights. Two 1st floor windows, of 3 and 4 lights, are original; they have ovolo-moulded mullions and leaded glazing of diamond and hexagonal panes with early crown glass - a rare survival. Other early windows have been unblocked, and some glazed in C20. C20 Oak plank entrance door. Some ovolo- moulded main beams; one in the parlour chamber has ogee mouldings. 2 original open fireplaces. A section of C16 panelling in the hall may be part of a cross-passage screen. Several moulded plank doors, and a little early C18 joinery. Clasped Purlin roof. N.B.L Listing NGR: TM1485651725
