Description

HENLEY ASHBOCKING ROAD TM 15 SE 4/117 Hill Farmhouse - II Farmhouse, early or mid C17 with alterations of C18 and C19. 2 storeys and attics. Hall range with parlour crosswing; the original entrance was probably into a lobby between them. Timber-framed and plastered. Plaintiled roofs; the cross-wing roof is hipped. An original axial chimney of red brick has a good saw-tooth pattern shaft on a square plinth. Various C19 and C20 casements. C20 rear entrance porch with panelled door (the original lobby- entrance position is occupied by a lean-to C19 staircase wing). Some heavy 1st floor members are exposed and some close-studwork. Butt-purlin roof with principal rafters was repaired or rebuilt in C18. A single bay extension to the right was made in C18, and a 1-storey dairy wing was placed behind it. Listing NGR: TM1652252197
