STRADBROKE QUEEN'S STREET TM 27 SW 8/126 Stradbroke Hall - (formerly listed as The Hall) 29.7.55 GV II House. C15 to rear, enlarged late C16/early C17. Considerable C18 and C19 alterations. L-shape plan. Timber framed, the facade and left return wall plastered, the remainder roughcast-rendered. C19 slated roof. Paired bracketed eaves cornice. 2 storeys. 3 windows, inset sashes with glazing bars. C18 6-panel door, semi-circular fanlight with radiating glazing bars. Rear wing has some good C18 casement windows with original square-leaded panes and C19 hoodmoulds. Internal stack with white brick shaft. Good exposed timbering in rear wing: a former open hall with moulded and embattled beams beside the dais and cross-passage, the latter mutilated. Heavy plain service cell joists. Late C16 inserted ceiling: chamfered joists and a main beam with broach stop-chamfers. In the front range the structure is largely concealed. Early C19 well stair with stick balusters. The house occupies the south west corner of a medieval rectangular moated enclosure. Listing NGR: TM2309574214
