Description

PETTAUGH EARL SOHAM ROAD TM 15 NE 4/131 Abbots Hall - II Farmhouse, mid C16 with alteration of C17 and C19. The main C16 range faces north. 3-cell plan, with lobby-entrance from C17. 2 storeys. Timber-framed and plastered with some C18 herringbone pargetting in large panels. Plaintiled roof, with axial C16/C17 chimney of red brick. Mid C19 casements. A cross-wing was added to the right hand end in C17: remodelling of mid C19 includes encasing in red brick now painted, with a pair of splayed bays. 6- panelled entrance door with gabled plaintiled porch cantilevered on brackets with trelliswork infilled spandrels. Plain C16 framing largely concealed; queen post roof, the posts stout and well jowled but entirely unbraced. Partially infilled surrounding medieval moat. Listing NGR: TM1733059002
