Description

TM 07 SW WATTISFIELD MANNING'S LANE 3/96 Honeypot Hall Farmhouse II Former farmhouse. Early to mid C17. Timber-framed, encased in random knapped flint with an admixture of stone blocks in parts; Tudor red brick to quoins and dressings; C18 red brick above the tie-beams in the apex of the gables. At the rear, a short C18 timber-framed and rendered wing, flanked on each side by lean-to extensions whose roofs continue the slope of the main roof. C20 shingles. 2 storeys and attics; main range with a 2-cell lobby-entrance form. The internal chimney-stack has a plain rebuilt red brick shaft. 3 windows to the first floor, 2 to the ground floor, all C20 2-light standard casements in the orignal Tudor brick surrounds with segmental arched heads. A C20 gabled enclosed half-glazed porch and entrance door. Interior with widely-spaced studding and plain chamfered main beams exposed. One fireplace with-a plain timber lintel. Roof to main range with clasped side purlins and principals; a similar roof to the rear range but with a ridge-piece. The rear lean-to's are difficult to date, since the flint walling and Tudor brick dressings cover them also, without signs of an obvious join. Listing NGR: TM0168974052
