Description

THORNDON HIGH STREET TM 16 NW 3/93 Old Rectory - II House, formerly the rectory. Early C19 front block with earlier work to rear. Front block of white brick with a hipped slated roof. Rear has timber framed core, part plastered, part faced in colourwashed brick; roof of grey concrete pantiles. 2 storeys with attic to rear. Symmetrical 3-bay facade, the centre bay set slightly forward. Inset sash windows with glazing bars under flat brick arches. Doorway has Greek Doric timber porch with entablature; late C19 three-quarter glazed door in 2 leaves with further glazing above. The early C19 stair, just behind the front block, has stick balusters, a rampged and wreathed handrail and carved tread-ends. Upper floor not examined. Listing NGR: TM1414769399
