Description

TL 87 SE LITTLE LIVERMERE LIVERMERE HEATH 2/45 Barn at Heath Farm - II Barn. Early C18. Timber-framed and weatherboarded, with slate roof, apart from the westernmost bay, which has pantiles. 7 bays, with a wide cart entry in the central bay. The wall-framing is unusual, alternate bays down each side having a middle rail, though these do not correspond from one side to the other. The studs are set on edge, and in the bays without a middle rail are bisected by long primary braces. Straight tie-beams with long arched braces to all but one truss, which has bolted kneed braces, apparently original. Roof in 9 bays with 2 rows of stepped but purlins and ridge-piece. All components pegged: no reused timbers: a partition removed from the easternmost bay, and a mid C20 floor inserted throughout the building. A C19 lean-to extension all along the south side.
