Description

TL 8467-8567 FORNHAM ALL SAINTS CORNER OF THE GREEN (WEST SIDE) AND HENGRAVE ROAD 3/5 Farm building at the south - end of farmyard at Moseley's Farm GV II Farm building, part stable, part ceiled-over with hayloft above. Late C17 . Timber-framed; weatherboarded on gables and along north side; random flint, red brick and stone to south wall; thatch on north slope of roof, corrugated iron on south slope. Interior with an apparently original division into 2: timbers and roof structure visible on western half only. Some reused timbers; bisected studs; primary braces; 5 roof-bays visible with stepped butt purlins, upper clasped purlins and some windbracing. 2 eyebrow dormers on the north side with small-paned casement windows, and a window in the east gable. The main feature of the building is the south wall, which forms part of the boundary wall of the farmyard: divided into 5 bays by plain red brick pilasters, and with small blocks of freestone spaced evenly across the flint panels. The stone is likely to be reused from Fornham Priory or Bury St. Edmunds Abbey. Listing NGR: TL8359667364
