Description

RAYDON WOODLANDS ROAD TM 03 NE (west side, off) 4/30 - Raydon Hall - II House, now 2 dwellings. Probable early C16 hall range with later C16 cross wing to right. C20 alterations. Timber-framed, rendered. Plain tile roof, red brick stacks. L-plan. Two storeys. Hall range lobby entry. C20 half-glazed door with jamb light under hood. C20 casements throughout, small canted bay at left. Three 1st floor windows. Swept roof, ridge stack. Cross wing formerly jettied to hall side, right return rebuilt (probably C17) in red brick incorporating external off- set stack with upper part rebuilt C20. Interior: red brick inglenook with chamfered jambs under chamfered bressumer Jowled posts with roll moulding. Chamfered transverse beam with bar stop. First floor: jowled posts, 4-light blocked diamond mullion windows. Chamfered arched fireplace. Ground floor cross wing deep moulded beam with run-out stop and moulded joists. Cross wing roof of clasped purlin type with windbraces. Main range roof to right of stack rebuilt but section to left said to retain crown post. Hall range to left of stack in separate occupation not inspected. Listing NGR: TM0529039055
