Description

UFFORD BARRACK LANE TM 25 SE (West side) 9/130 - Ufford House GV II House. C17 or C18 with late C18/early C19 addition. Timber framed with colourwashed render and a plaintile roof. Two storeys with an attic and two storeys. Entrance front: C17 portion at right of 4 bays. To the ground floor at right is an early C19 front door which has 4 lower raised and fielded panels and two upper glazed panels. Similar front door to far right with a C19 porch before it with thin fluted columns with acanthus leaf capitals and a pedimental gable. To right of this is a cross window and at left a 3-light casement. To left of centre is a C20 window of 7 lights formed by glazed panels set between the studs. The first floor has four 2-light windows of differing dimensions. The attic has two C19 gabled dormer windows of 2 lights. The 2-bay late C18/early C19 extension at left has C19 horned sashes to the ground floor of 3 x 4 panes and two 2-light casements to the first floor having 4-centered heads to the lights. The ridge height of this addition is similar to that at right although the roof is of a shallower pitch. The C17 portion has an axial ridge stack at left of centre of 3 flues with an attached flue at right. Interior: Chamfered beams and joists showing to the ground floor. Listing NGR: TM2971552234
