Description

TM 26 SE PARHAM FRAMLINGHAM ROAD 3/146 High House 25.10.51 - II Farmhouse. Rear wing C16 with C17 alterations, front (north) wing probably mid C17; various later extensions. L shape plan. Timber framed and plastered, the front wing with original colourwashed brick gable end to left hand side; each wing has one roof slope plaintiled and one slated. 2 storeys and attic. 3 window range, sashes with glazing bars in flush frames, doorway with 6-panel raised and fielded door, pilasters, frieze and pediment; to the right hand side is a late C18 colourwashed brick extension set forward: one window range, tripartite sashes in flush frames. Original brick parapet gable end to left hand side with integral stack; 2 C18 leaded casements to rear. Rear wing with 2 original mullion windows to south; the gable end has a good C17 6-light mullion and transom window and 2 further original mullion windows. A ground floor room of the rear wing has C17 ornamental plasterwork with running vine motif comprising 2 ceiling panels (of 4) and parts of the frieze; front wing has brick fireplace with 4-centre arch to first floor; much exposed timbering resulting partly from C20 internal alterations; the rear wing has the remains of a cross passage with blocked external doorway and 2 triangular headed service doorways.
