Description

1. NEW STREET 1852 Bell Inn TM 2749 2/152 25.1.51 I 2. New Street was constructed in 1550 and this is the probable date of the Bell 2 storey, timber framed, plascered. Tiles. Half timber over- hanging lst floor, brick plinth. Two, 4-centred arched timbers, indicating former entrances. Carved brakcets to overhang "embattled" carved bressumer. 3 windows C18 casements, modern glazing. Modern door with architrave. The timber framed steelyard overhanging the road still exists, but does not appear to be integrally convected with the original building, through probably early C17. It is credited with being one of 2 still in Situ, and was operated in the lifetime of a living (in 1947) inhabitant of woodbridge. NMR photos.
