Description
WESTON LONDON ROAD TM 48 NW 5/54 Barn 30m east north east - of New House Farmhouse - II Barn. Late C17/early C18. Timber framed, mainly weatherboarded, with red brick gable ends, the upper part of each gable also weatherboarded. Pantiled roof. 5 bays with a central cart entrance. The frame is substantially intact, with full-height studding and arched bracing. 3 of the 4 open trusses retain their arched braces. The northernmost bay was originally floored over and there is evidence for the original first floor windows, which had diamond mullions. The roof has 2 rows of unstepped butt purlins with straight plank wind-bracing; some of the rafters have been renewed. (cf. barn at Moat Farm, Willingham, Item No. 5/57).
