Description

RISHANGLES EYE ROAD TM 16 NE 4/48 Street Farmhouse 9.9.87 GV II Farmhouse. C15 with late C16 alterations. Timber framed, the front cased in early C20 common brick, the remainder plastered. Pantiled roof, mainly glazed black tiles to the front slope. 1½ storeys. 3-cell form with former open hall. 3 windows, C20 small-paned 3-light casements under segmental arches. 2 doorways, each with 4-panel door; the left doorway, in the position of the cross-entry, has an overlight. 2 flat-roofed dormers with older casement windows. Internal stack, the external portion of the shaft mostly demolished. A mullioned dairy window at rear is partly slatted, with an internal sliding shutter. Unmodernised interior with much of the structure concealed, especially at the parlour end. Timbers in former open hall are heavily sooted. Blocked 2-centre arched cross-entry doorway in rear wall. Rear half of service partition survives, with one 4-centre arched doorway. Intact C16 plank and muntin partition divides cross-passage from hall. Some medieval joists visible in service cell, still divided into 2 rooms. The hall open truss has been removed except for a small part of the arched braces below the upper floor. Stack inserted into upper bay of hall, the fireplace with a heavy lintol. Late C16 inserted floor has chamfered joists. 2 oak stairs of C17 or later. Listing NGR: TM1624168530
