Description

REDGRAVE THE STREET (NORTH EAST TM 07 NW SIDE) 1/89 Street Farm House 29.7.55 (formerly listed as Street Farmhouse) GV II Farmhouse. Early to mid C17, altered C19. Timber frame, roughcast. Steeply pitched plaintiled and pantiled roofs. A large 3 cell lobby entry range with a stair bay to rear. 2 storeys and attic. Triple gabled front: towards right a lobby entrance with a 6 fielded panelled door, pilastered Doric doorcase, 3- light glazing bar casements with hoodboards, to left a 2-light casement, widely spaced gables over each cell with brackets to plates. Large axial ridge stack to right of centre between hall and parlour, a recessed panel in foot, moulded courses to cap. Right or parlour end architraved French windows. Left end brick plinth and a 2-light louvred dairy window. To rear a gable and a lean-to outshut behind parlour which has a slightly higher roof, projecting gabled stair bay behind stack is slightly lower, at service end 2 large external stacks with offsets linked by a brick oven outshut with a further lean-to outshut beyond an entrance into kitchen. Interior: frame concealed, stop chamfered cross axial binding beams, parlour has a bolection moulded fireplace surround; an early cellar, stair bay has a cornice, some original cigar shaped balusters in attic which retains traces of original cyma mullioned windows, double butt purlin roof with cambered collars.
