Description

LITTLE STONHAM CHURCH LANE TM 16 SW 2/127 Barn aligned north-south - 20 metres north of Church of St. Mary GV II Barn, early C17 with C18 alterations. 8 bays. Timber-framed and weather- boarded; some early or original plaster upon the north gable. Roof partly pantiled, partly Roman pantiled. C19 boarded barn doors at bays 3 and 6. Widely-spaced studwork with arch stud-bracing, augmented in C18. Clasped- purlin roof. Trusses 1-3 from the north are arch-braced, the remainder at the south end have C18/C19 knees. Bays 6-8 from the north show evidence for partitioning and original upper floors, and were probably built as stabling. Various C19 lean-to extensions on the west side. Listing NGR: TM1118360184
