Description

HAUGHLEY STATION ROAD TM 06 SW 4/118 Hill Farmhouse -- II Former farmhouse, c.1600. 2-cell lobby-entrance plan. 2 storeys and attics. Timber-framed and plastered. Glazed pantiled roof with axial chimney; the shaft mainly plastered, the upper part rebuilt in C20 red brick; late C18 or early C19 small-pane windows of 3 lights, the centre light with a casement below a transome. Mid C20 concrete pantiled porch at lobby entrance position; a half-glazed panelled door. A complete example of a 2-cell house: close- studding with some diamond-mullioned windows surviving at 1st and attic floors. Windbraced clasped-purlin roofs. Two lintelled back-to-back open fireplaces; that in the hall to right has a strongly cambered and undercut lintel. A small inserted ovolo-mullioned early C17 window lights the staircase.
