TM 03 NE STRATFORD ST MARY B1029 (north east side) 2/11 - Hill House - II House. C16 cross wing, C17 hall range with later alterations and additions. Timber-framed, rendered with additions partly in red brick. Plain tile roof, rebuilt red brick stack. 2 storeys. 2-cell lobby-entry hall range with 2-bay cross wing to right extended to rear later. C20 conservatory to rear and lower porch linking with later building not of special interest. C19 gabled porch with half-glazed door. 16-pane sashes to hall range, 12-pane sash to cross wing. C20 casements with glazing bars above. Rebuilt stack. Cross wing at slightly lower level, to right return trench windows with casement above. Swept roof ridge stack. Interior: cross wing, beams with run out and step stops; jowled posts and studded wall to 1st floor. Chamfered beam and exposed joists to hall range. Chamfered basket-arched fireplace in orange brick to kitchen and reused timber with fine leaf scroll carving and shields, one with initial I, as bressummer of hall fireplace. Clasped purlin roofs.
